You may be familiar with the name Fungasol already.  It’s been a trusted product for years under our sister brand Equine America®.  We took the opportunity to improve it by adding the Biopolysan booster, a patented technology derived from coconuts, before giving it a new home under the Absorbine Skin & Coat Care line.

Often, it’s hard for a horse owner to know whether a skin infection is fungal or bacterial without a lab test. Plus in many cases, a secondary fungal or bacterial infection can confuse things. In both cases, Fungasol has you covered. It helps to treat typical fungi, gram-positive and negative bacteria and even some enveloped viruses. When the zone of inhibition of new Fungasol with added Biopolysan was tested, a 29% boost in activity was recorded compared to the original formula.  The effectiveness proven in lab tests was seen in action on horses as well, as skin conditions cleared up in as little as a week in some cases.

A variety of fungal and bacterial skin conditions can be addressed using Fungasol, including rain rot, pastern dermatitis (also known as scratches, mud fever, greasy heal etc.) girth itch, ringworm, and some of the underlying causes of prolonged tail rubbing. Fungasol will even help treat shallow wound bacteria, and the formula will not sting.

The addition of Fungasol to the Absorbine line of skin and coat care products offers horse owners advanced technology that helps keep their horses looking and feeling their best. “The science behind Fungasol with added Biopolysan booster raises this product as an innovative solution that can bring horses real relief when they need it the most,” says Jaime McKinley, Vice President of New Business Development. “We are proud to bring Fungasol under the Absorbine brand, a name horse owners know they can put confidence in when it comes to the health of their animals.”

I am so excited to try this product. I am in a constant battle with scratches in our drafts. We have super wet ground and mud and feathers! You can imagine our problems. My Shire mare has the beginnings of lymphadema and scratches are a constant. I have tried all topicals and make my own sulfur and oil but have yet to win my battle. Where can I find this?!?! I can’t wait to try 🙂

Hi Leah, sounds like you have the perfect conditions for scratches! Have you ever clipped or trimmed the feathers just around the pastern area? If not, that can really help and you can’t even tell. Horse.com has the new Fungasol in stock. We recommend the ointment for scratches, but the spray would work well too!

Athletes foot 100% gone scalp 80% forehead face ears 75%. Only side effect is temporary craving for green grass, oats and pond water smoothie. Haha. Why not for humans???
