You love your horse, and we love that! Every month we’ll be asking one of our friends from social media to showcase their horses and share a few words in our Absorbine Spotlight!
This month we’re spotlighting Molly Brooks, winner of the Horse Illustrated Absorbine Botanicals cover star contest, and her 9 y.o. OTTB mare – Bisou (which means “kiss” in French). Look for Molly and Bisou on the cover of an upcoming issue of Horse Illustrated!
A: What do you do with your horse?
M: I love her, brush her & stuff her with treats as well as riding her 3-5 times a week. She can do it all but she enjoys jumping especially. We both love cross-country schooling and hunter paces. We have recently started focusing a lot on our dressage and are excited to do some eventing this fall. Bisou has lots of energy and loves to work- she is willing to do pretty much anything I ask of her.
A: What Absorbine products do you like, and why did you start using them?
M: Who hasn’t used ShowSheen? It’s a staple for riders who like to look good when they are out and about! But my favorite product is my Horseman’s One Step Cream Leather Cleaner and Conditioner. There’s always some in my tack box. I don’t love cleaning tack but this really makes it simple and keeps my tack looking and feeling great.
A: Any fun horse care tips you’d like to share?
M: I like to decorate my horse with fun saddle pads, sparkles and bright gear. I love accessorizing Bisou almost as much as I love riding her!
A: What’s the funniest thing non-horse people ask you about horses?
M: My non- horse friends always ask if I keep my horse at my house. People don’t seem to understand that for most riders we rely on boarding facilities to care for our horses. I absolutely love my barn (Folly Farm)- it is my home away from home and I have seen such a change in Bisou since we have boarded here- she is so happy and relaxed!
A: What do you love most about your horse?
M: The thing I love most about Bisou is her complete trust in me and willingness to try anything I ask of her. She is the most honest and kind mare. She is endlessly patient with me as I try out different things with her. I also love that she is a “one woman” kind of mare- she tolerates others riding her, but always saves her best rides for me 😉
Thanks for telling us a little about your life with horses in the Absorbine Spotlight Molly!
