Fly Season Game Plan

Team, this is your Fly Season Game Plan!

Biting flies. Mosquitoes. Ticks. Gnats. They want to eat your horse, one tiny bite at a time. They don’t mind if your horse is frisky today. They’re not moved when he nickers sweetly to you. They don’t mind if they cause maddening irritation or ruin your precious horse time.

What do they mind?

UltraShield®, that’s what. They tuck their antennae and run when they see our bottles. We make four different UltraShield® fly control formulas, each formulated for insect activity and specific conditions. Here’s how to tell them apart, how to make them work their hardest and how to then win the war on flies.

Have you changed your formula in Ultrashield ex (black container). I have used it for 3 years and have been good with it. This spring and summer I am finding it useless against biting flies, gnats, and mosquitoes. I put a good wet layer on my horses with a cloth; step back and the bugs are still landing and biting. After 15 – 20 minutes there appears to be more flying and less landing of the flies but there is no effect on the mosquitoes and gnats. Location southwestern Manitoba. We will soon be heading into the culex mosquito season and they carry West Nile ( we are vaccinated) too). any suggestion or help.

Hi Mavis, thank you for your comment! I’m sorry we’re replying so late. We have not changed the formula. It sounds like you are already using enough and wiping it over teh coat, also make sure to shake the container well to get the ingredients mixed well. -Sean & Team Absorbine
