Absorbine Spotlight - Catherine "Cat" Wallace - Absorbine

You love your horse, and we love that! Every month we’ll be asking one of our friends to showcase their horses and horsey life in the Absorbine Spotlight!

We’d like you to meet Catherine “Cat” Wallace and Sas Tuff Ring or “Tess”, her 20 y.o. AQHA mare.

Cat Spotlight

On her judging career:

Catherine: I was a youth and collegiate judge at the national level then went on to judging 4-H and mix breed shows across the Midwest. I was also college livestock trained so at some smaller remote counties, I’d judge swine and beef cattle at 4-H and FFA. At that time I worked as an AQHA steward and director for WI while working full time managing a department lab at a teaching medical school. As far as showmanship, if I have time will always talk about presentation. Clean, neat, well-fitted tack and clothes over expensive fancy fads catch my eye. If you’re spending more on the cost of saddle then the horse, it shows. Stick to classic basics -a great horse that’s clean, with well-fitted equipment.

Absorbine: What do you do with your horse?

Catherine:  Tess is a former show horse and broodmare, and now a trail and therapy horse.

Absorbine:  Any fun horse care tips you’d like to share?

Catherine:  Let them roll and get muddy. With the Phoenix (AZ) heat compared to Midwest, using Botanicals rinse instead of full baths to prevent drying skin.

Absorbine:  What Absorbine products do you like, and why did you start using them?

Catherine: Use old fashioned Absorbine Veterinary Liniment on the aches of my older horse who’s moved with me across the country.

Absorbine:  What’s the funniest thing non-horse people ask you about horses?

Catherine:  For me the funniest thing is non horse people thinking a pony is a baby or a mini. Trying to explain the difference is amusing.

Absorbine:  What do you love most about your horse?

Catherine:  My daughter and I love our horses, not only great show and trail horses but good-looking easy keepers with very smooth gaits. They’ve been in our family for 10 years and 4 major interstate moves.

Absorbine:  Thanks for telling us about your life with Tess, she’s clearly a cherished part of your family!
