An Unmatched Legacy of Caring for Horses

Most everyone has heard of Absorbine^® Veterinary Liniment (AVL for short), but did you know that it is celebrating its 125th Anniversary?? In 1892, Mary Ida Young wanted a better way to care for her family’s working horses and used her extensive knowledge of healing herbs to create her now world-famous herbal liniment. Our liniments have been keeping horses – be they working, competing, or simply treasured family members – comfortable ever since! This revolutionary formulation grew to become a horse care staple because it has continuously provided relief that horses and their owners can depend on.

Triple Crown Winner

In 1973, “Big Red”, as he was known to family and friends, was the first Triple Crown Winner since Citation (a quarter of a century earlier). He not only set new track records at the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes, but set a new world record at the Belmont Stakes of 2:24 minutes flat, winning by 31 lengths and setting a record for the fastest 1.5 miles on dirt that still stands to this day!
